Do's and Don'ts

DO – Treat septic systems with an enzyme once a year!

DON’T – Flush anything down the drain (toilet or sinks or washing machines) that will harm the bacteria (which breaks down the solids on the way to the septic tank, allowing only liquid to flow into the “drain leeching field”). i.e. Bleach, ammonia, etc…if you wouldn’t put it in your body, don’t put it down your drain pipes.

Tips

Q1. What can I do to keep the roots in my yard from blocking my sewer line in the future?
A1. Roots need a “haircut” once a year. They will continue to grow back slowly & yearly maintenance is needed to ensure your sewer line drains properly.

Q2. Are there any products I should use to ensure my drains stay clear & flowing?
A2. Using “BioClean” and/or “RootX” helps to keep drains clear. These products can be applied by our experienced technicians during any service.

Q3. What foods are acceptable to put down my garbage disposal without “clogging” it up?
A3. Only left over “cooked” food should be scraped down the disposal in order to prevent clogs. Run plenty of water before & after turning on/off the disposal.

Q4. How do I clear my toilet?
A4. A good “old fashioned” plunger will normally do the trick – plunge vigorously (hard)!

Q5. How do I clear my sink drain?
A5. If a plunger doesn’t work, you might want to try removing the p-trap (if you’re handy like that).
